Let me introduce myself ...
My name is Alex Clou. Actually it is Alex Clouet, but I dropped the 'et' to make it easier for people to pronounce.
Wanna give it a try? Let's see if you succeed. ;-)
I am currently residing in Düsseldorf (Germany), but work and passion make me travel a lot these days. Just consider me a nomad.
Gigs and jobs that I do include everything from touring as a sideman, production and studio work, playing corporate and private events, to teaching one-on-one lessons and doing clinics.
Making the most out of my time, I also keep myself busy, creating and establishing projects in different styles, for different purposes.
From the Acoustic Pop Duo to the comedy-like Jazz Band, from the music networking event to equipment demonstration meet-ups.
Companies that have supported me with my career are Kemper Amps and Takamine Guitars, which I am very grateful for.
People I worked with, recorded for, supported, toured/played or appeared with include: Eko Fresh, EES, Las Ketchup, Boney M, Pietro Lombardi, Pur, Mory Kante, Giovanni Zarrella, Kerstin Ott, F.R. David, Phat Crispy Productions, Samy, Collins Peters, Ned Albright and more to come.
One of the definitely notable experiences in my life as a professional musician, was moving out to Los Angeles in my early twenties. One of the worlds most amazing music capitals, where I gained a lot of important experiences as a freelancer in the recording scene for artists, tv commercial production and pre production.
Like many others, before moving to LA, I went to music conservatory in Arnhem (Netherlands). Being definitely 'not-made-for-school' and embracing individuality, I took a different path of gaining knowledge and experience, which I am still following up today.
Nothing is as important to me, as having my own 'voice' on the guitar.
Being unique in my own way and being recognizable, no matter what I do, always had more appeal to me than being another 'Joe Blow'.
During my time in Los Angeles, I wrote the following note:
'Regarding art - I rather like to create goosebumps than a party.
I wanna touch people, I wanna get under their skin.
I wanna change the way they think, make them live a better life.
Wake them up.'
I just recently recovered that note and can honestly say, that I still stand by what it says for the most.
But being at a different age now, through out the time, I learned to value things like 'just having a good time' or even 'getting the party started'.
Crazy, right? ;-)
Today, I do my best to be an open-minded musician, that knows his stuff, is easy and fun to work with and who never, ever lacks artistic depth. A musician who values and respects great music and musicianship, no matter in what form in appears.
I always strive to become better at what I do, expand my knowledge into other fields and learn about different ways of life or life itself.
Communication is the key, so don't hesitate to send me a message, I will always do my best to answer as soon as I can.
Thank you for paying me a visit,
- Alex Clou
